Keith Haring
Keith Haring was an American artist known for his iconic and vibrant pop art. Haring's bold and energetic style, characterised by his use of simplified figures and bold lines, became a visual language that transcended the art world and became synonymous with the vibrant New York City street culture of the 1980s. Haring's artistic journey began in the early 1980s when he started creating his signature drawings on the empty black advertising panels in New York City subway stations. These spontaneous and dynamic images, often featuring dancing figures, barking dogs, and radiant hearts, captured the attention of commuters and quickly gained popularity.
