Shepard Fairey

A major figure of the contemporary street art movement, Shepard Fairey rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” campaign. Fairey's artistry and activism converged in 2008 when he designed the iconic "Hope" poster for then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. Throughout his career, Fairey has utilised various mediums, including street art, screenprinting, collage, and graphic design, to address social and political issues. His work often incorporates elements of pop culture, propaganda, and cultural commentary, challenging viewers to question authority, consumerism, and societal norms.
