Lockdown Studies by The Connor Brothers

Introducing The Connor Brothers’ latest collection of original works on paper. The new series of mixed media collages entitled 'Lockdown Studies' were created at their homes during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Each work conveys the artists' thought process by bringing image and text together to give meaning and context behind their popular Pulp Fiction series.

We spent lockdown going back to how we first used to work, James and I making collages on his kitchen table. This new series of studies combines words and images in ways we’ve not done before and feels like our most direct and unedited form of communicating ideas.

This new body of work provides a unique insight to the workings of the duo. Each collage is heavily hand finished with acrylics and oil stick, with collaged images that provided inspiration for their oil paintings. Hand-written text is combined with pasted extracts from Snelle's archive of short stories, and Golding's free and fluid mark makings marry image and text.

The Connor Brothers raw and honest collection of Lockdown Studies exhibits a new and exciting direction for the artists, providing a deeper understanding of their practice.
