The Extraordinary Objects Dinosaur

Introducing our new friend, the skeleton of a Thescelosaurus Dinosaur. We call him Theo.

Theo is from the Hell Creek Formation, South Dakota, and is circa 84 million years old. He is one of the last survivors of the Age of Dinosaurs and first appeared at the very end of the Late Cretaceous.

The Thescelosaurus possessed sturdy limbs, small wide hands and a head with an elongated pointed snout. The structure of its teeth and jaws suggest a primarily herbivorous habit.

There is no doubt as to why the name ‘Thescelosaurus’, meaning godlike, wondrous or marvellous, was given to this extraordinary creature. Theo has been mounted on a custom metal armature attached to a hardwood base and measures approximately 9ft. This is one of the most complete examples of his species known.

Extraordinary Objects founder Carla Nizzola along with fossil collectors Mike and James from British artist duo The Connor Brothers, visited Arizona in February 2020 for the world’s largest Gem, Fossil and Mineral show in Tucson. Here Theo was acquired from an internationally recognised and respected Palaeontologist who has specialised in excavating and preserving dinosaurs from his quarry in Colorado for many years.
